Mom, please slow down!
How many times has your little one asked you to slow down?
My poor kids. I am a power walker. It’s just how I grocery shop and walk to the car. I forgot when they were small that their little legs couldn’t keep up. Bless their little hearts. How they endured me, I’ll never know.
I sure wish I would have listened.
My 3 biological children are now 9, 14, and 16. My bonus step kids are 5 and 9. Time is going at lightening speed. I miss them little.
They still ask me to slow down. I do a million things in the day and they just want me to stop and talk to them. They still (even the teenagers!) want to show me what they are doing. They want me to see what they are watching on youtube. They want to do art projects and want me to see it! They want quiet family dinners even if they act like they are being tortured. They are still little in their hearts and they still need me.
I wish I would listen.
This time of virtual school and social distancing has brought me back to the days when they were little and always with me. I couldn’t get through many days fast enough. I wish I would have slowed down. I wish I would have let the laundry sit a little longer and snuggled on the couch a little more. I wish I would have let me perfectionism die a little bit and let them help me make the craft a little less perfect. (Ok, maybe that’s taking it too far lol!)
Are you wanting to now ask them the same thing? Slow down. Quit growing up so quick! Quit changing daily so I can catch up! My oldest is a sophomore in high school. I can’t slow time down. I can only relish every moment. I need him to stay small but he is 5’10”!!
I wish they could listen.
Enjoy your babies no matter how big they are.
Teach them virtue and who you are deep in your soul by telling them what you have learned.
Take the pictures with them.
Draw.
Play games.
Read to them.
Have family outside time that you aren’t on your phone.
Take the trip.
Listen to them.
Get down on their level.
Meal plan with them.
Give them all of you when you can and then when you need to do other things, do it guilt free.
Slow down.
This song will help.
