Does your weight define you?
What does the scale make you feel? Are you obsessed with the number on your scale?
I asked many people in THE WELL’s community and the consensus is “yes”. Our weight seems to define how we feel about ourselves. You said:
“The scale makes me feel horrible".
“I think about my weight all day long… when people are walking behind me, when I try on clothes, when I’m at my workout, all day long.”
“The number on the scale sets if I will feel good or bad about myself that day.”
“I’m obsessed with weighing myself.”
“It makes me feel sick.”
Have you, like many, put on a few pounds these last few months? Many of us have been home more, watching more television or our phones, comfort eating, and not on a healthy routine. This is the bad news! The good news is your weight is a just a number and your weight doesn’t have to define you.
I love what one of our coaches said….
“If you asked me 2 years ago I’d say a scale represented bondage. Now I’d say I am no longer controlled by the number on the scale and I’m finding freedom in a healthy, balanced lifestyle.”
Another of our dear contributors said, “6 years ago the scale was the bane of my existence. I attached my self worth to what the scale said. It dictate how I live my life, how I thought or my saw myself, what I eat, what I wore. All encompassing self loathing person that I was. Now I can’t say “I am fixed” of all the crap…. sometimes the she sits on my shoulder and yells those things at me but majority of the time I have learned a lot of self acceptance and self-love which was and still is a lot of healing.”
Dear friends, the number on your scale doesn’t define your worth!
Here are some helpful perspectives and tips to keep your mind right about that number on the scale:
Don’t think of your weight as just fat!
It is a measurement of all of the amazing tissue and muscle and organs and your beautiful brilliant brain must weigh 25 pounds alone!
Learn to admire your body for all of the amazing things it does for you each day.
Thank it each morning for waking up, for serving you to chase your dreams or your little ones all day. Talk nice to it! Your body does amazing things!
Decide on a weight range that is healthy for you.
Don’t compare yourself to your 18 year old self! Pick a number that is healthy with the muscle mass you have, the diet that allows you to live a fit and active life and just keep your weight in a RANGE that is healthy for you to thrive in this season of your life.
Think of your weight in terms of HEALTH!
MEASURE YOUR HEALTH DAILY, NOT YOUR BODY WEIGHT!
If you are thin because you eat nothing but kale all day, you are not healthy! Set your goals for eating a well balanced life of drinking lots of water, eating REAL food, movement daily and a healthy mindset AFFIRMING yourself!
Seek to BALANCE your body systems, not deplete yourself!
Slim and Sassy doTERRA essential oil brings BALANCE to your metabolism. Take the capsules, put a drop under your tongue, chew the Slim and Sassy gum, or put a few drops on water. It will help cut cravings and balance your blood sugar which helps make good food choices.
6. Talk to a friend or coach for support, accountability and vulnerability.
We can be delusional about what we see on the scale or in the mirror. Have a friend or coach that will help us see us how other people see us. You are your own worse critic. Let your friend tell you all of the beautiful things we all see! xoxo
