In this episode, we dive into two of the most profound aspects of our spiritual journey: who we say God is and what God says about us. Our understanding of these truths shapes our identity, our purpose, and our relationship with God.
First, we explore the importance of our personal view of God. Do we see Him as a loving Father, a sovereign Creator, or something else entirely? How does our perception of God affect our daily lives, decisions, and sense of worth?
We get these answers from God’s Word
God is creator". Genesis 1
God is infinite. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." - Colossians 1:17
“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure” – Psalm 147:5
God is immutable- He never changes. “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” Malachi 3:6
God is self- sufficient. Because God is self-sufficient, we can go to him to satisfy all our needs. We never have to worry about “drying up” his never-ending well of goodness, peace, mercy and grace. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20)
God is omnipotent (all powerful)
“Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. If he comes along and confines you in prison and convenes a court, who can oppose him? Surely he recognizes deceivers; and when he sees evil, does he not take note?” – Job 11:7-11
God is omniscient- (all knowing) “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please” - Isaiah 46:9-10
God is omnipresent. “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.” Psalm 139:7-10
God is wise. “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!” – Romans 11:33
God is faithful. "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands." - Deut 7:9
“[I]f we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13
God is good. “O, taste and see that the Lord is good” – Psalm 34:8
God is just. "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.” – Duet 32:4
God is merciful. “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy." - Romans 9:15-16
God is gracious. "The LORD is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness." – Psalm 145:8
God is loving. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” - 1 John 4:7-8
God is Holy. “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord Almighty” – Revelation 4:8
Next, we look at the power of what God says about us.
In a world full of external pressures and competing voices, it’s easy to lose sight of the truth about who we are in Christ. We reflect on key Bible verses and promises that define our identity in God's eyes, reminding ourselves that we are beloved, chosen, and deeply valued.
God says I am His beloved child: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1).
God says I am chosen, adopted into His family through Jesus Christ to be His child forever: “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son” (Ephesians 1:4–6, NLT; see also 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 2:13).
God says I am valuable. He calls me His workmanship: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT).
God says I am redeemed. “He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins” (Ephesians 1:7, NLT
God says I am a new person in Jesus Christ. “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT
God says I am His friend. “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15).
God says I am His ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20; Ephesians 6:20),
God says I am a member of Jesus Christ’s body: “And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 3:6, NLT
God says I am exceedingly loved: “God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8, NLT;
