Comparison is a Thief

Comparison is a Thief.png

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” - Theodore Roosevelt

Others are saying it.

Others are doing it.

But, they aren’t part of your tribe.

They aren’t serving your people.

Only YOU can do that!

Why did you start your business? I’m guessing that there was a little voice inside that said, “This is it. This is what you’ve been waiting for.” It resounded deep in your heart. It measured up. It aligned fully to your heart of service, your belief in what makes life make sense. You knew you wanted to share or serve or teach because you had to do this work. You could never stop because every other thing would feel empty in comparison. You would do it even if you didn’t get paid! You love it deep in your bones.

Then why do you start to compare?

You know you are meant to do this work, but then you get online or on social media or look at others in a similar field and start to think you are not enough?!?!

The little voice starts to say now:

“They do the same thing but their brand is better defined than mine.”

“She looks better doing it than I do.”

“She is more educated than I am.”

“He is more articulate.”

“They are moving faster.”

“They have all the right tools.”

Guess what?! You’re right! They are probably ahead of you, because they started first!

You can’t compare your step one to someone else’s step 5! They have already overcome family not believing in them, overcoming fears of stepping out in faith, and having to uplevel their office skills or communication or time management.

Please, hear this, though, friend.

They can’t be you. They will rock being themselves but they will never have what you have. They don’t have your story. They don’t have your pain. They haven’t overcome what you have. They don’t know the same people. Your tribe, your circle, your friends and family and children need you. You are who they trust. Share yourself with them and all the thousands of people that they know and need to now know you.

There is no such thing as a new idea. There is only a need of different people doing the same thing, but in a slightly different way to different people. Keep going. Write out a list of what you ARE. Repeat these affirmations every day. Ask your tribe to remind you.

The world needs you to just ……….. be you.
