You Will Find What You Are Looking For
No matter what you think you are searching for, you will find it.
We, as humans, are complex creatures, yet, so simple. We think about complex things, yet we don’t look at the whole picture.
We dream AND we limit ourselves at the same time.
It is all possible … and probable.
If you want to find a case that your political views are right, you know where to look. If you want to find an opposing view to your politics, you can find a case for it. The internet gives all information at our fingertips. Yet, it is not all true. Whatever you want to find, true or false, you will find details to support what you are looking for.
The same is true with people. If you want to see your spouse as a loving, supportive mate, you will find ways in which that is true. If you are hurting, though, and can only see ways in which they fall short, then that will be all you see. You will find whatever you are looking for.
As a parent, I can look for ways that my children obey and are responsible. It is usually easier, though, to see where they can improve and nag and get after them to do better.
The same is true with wellness.
If you want to see that you don’t have time or money to be healthy, you will make a case that is true. You will make yourself feel better and tell yourself that only selfish, self-centered people work out. They are people that have more time in the day. If you don’t look for solutions, you won’t find them. Truth is, everyone has the same resources for being healthy. Everyone can walk outside, eat real food (it’s actually cheaper than the processed non-food!), take in nature, smell plants and get sun on their skin.
The same is true with God.
If you want to see Him as all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful, you can find details in your life to support your belief. If you have lost someone, or have been abused, or have struggled for much of your life, you can see God as mean and uncaring, unloving. But, was He responsible for those events? Or were they a result of hurting people and a hurting world? You will find what you are looking for, but what is true? If the Bible is truly the inspired Word of God …
Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
He says ask and you will find. You will find what you are looking for and if you look for Him in His Word, you will find truth. You will find His love and grace instead of the world’s version of Him.
Above all, you will find peace.
